Academic Support

The Academic Resource Centre (ARC) offers a variety of academic support options from drop-in hours to one-on-one tutoring to individual course support for college and seminary students.

Drop-in hours

The ARC drop-in hours vary from semester to semester. For current hours, email

During drop-in hours, Academic Resource Centre staff will be available to help with time management, study strategies, format guides, and general writing support. If you require more than 15-20 minutes of help, staff will encourage you to book an appointment with an academic coach or tutor.

Drop-in support is free and available to all Briercrest College and Seminary students.

One-on-One Support

Students wishing to receive support outside of drop-in hours or who would like more focused support are invited to make an appointment with an academic coach or tutor. Appointments are available on an ongoing basis (once a week through the entire semester with the same coach/tutor) or on an as-needed basis.

Types of Support:

  • Academic Coaching—Helping students develop the academic skills necessary for college (time management, organization, note-taking, reading strategies, study strategies, etc.)
  • Writing Support—Help with all stages of the writing process. Please note that we are not a proof-reading service. Our goal is to help you become a better and more reflective writer. The Writing Centre is also available to provide writing support.
  • Tutoring—Tutors are available for specific courses and disciplines. If you do not see a listing for a course you are needing support in, please email

Group Support

It’s no secret that certain courses can be more challenging than others. The Academic Resource Centre offers open tutoring sessions for courses that students have historically found challenging. These study sessions are led by students who have successfully taken the course in the past. Sessions are free to all students currently enrolled in the course.

Current Study Sessions for Fall 2019:

  • MATH 101
  • PSY 100

If you would like to see a course added to this list, please email
